A good idea is not enough. Business aren’t just about ideas, businesses are about execution.
This statement has always been good topic for discussions which you would have had among your friends when you were discussing your ideas either in coffee shop or canteen.
This statement is good even in corporate’s and startup companies, as its catch 22 situation it explains what you think about your own self and what you think of your own company. Lets analyze this in realty terms.
Lets say we have good idea like hyper local supplying of groceries which is already proved that It can work, now lets imagine this idea before being implemented.
If you would say this concept to your investor or to your friends the questions would have been like. Why will people buy from your website, they can buy directly from the local kirana store which they now very well and from long time.
Then it would be why will kirana store give your margin or commission for getting new customers in the same area he serves.
Though we all know we depend on our daily needs from local stores which are stone throw away from our house we live in. Though this idea seems so simple and it does not make any sense in doing this business if we look at it on overall basis.
But this is today reality there are companies, which have gone ahead and executed this mundane idea and are making revenues from it. So it’s not all about how great the idea is or how mundane the idea is it’s all about implementing the idea and facing the problems and understanding.
The same way lets analyze the opposite side of it, lets say we have a idea where in we are trying to personalize the air travel by providing platform for un scheduled flying operators and also helping corporates or individuals to fly at their own convenience.
The idea on over all perspective looks good where in the service is being provided and creating a platform of demand and supply is being brought it, but at same time the questions on its existence would also be asked people will make there schedules as per the tickets they book and when we have existing airlines who give discounts then why would such an idea be required.
Today its reality there are companies which provide this service. All the ideas look good and same time look idiotic, remember the base line Idea has to generate revenue without which there is no point whether you implement the idea or not.
